CalcuScribe lets you easily create files, each with a unique name, from a simple menu. For the quick use procedure, turn the machine over and read the instructions.

After entering a file you may edit it with Cut, Copy and Paste or with Find and Replace, or with Spellcheck. You may also copy text from one file to another.

Files can be sent to a Mac, iMac or a PC by connecting our extension cable to the computer’s keyboard port and to one of CalcuScribe’s ports. Files can also be sent wirelessly via the Infrared interface, at the back of the machine, into our InfraLink pod which then serves them to the computer or the printer.

To scroll faster, inside the Help-file, or in any file, use the PgUp and PgDn keys.

Write a story (or story prompts) on a CalcuScribe and press the SEND key to beam it to another CalcuScribe.
Press the RECV key on the receiving unit. Data may be received into a new file or into the active file. Students can copy / paste a story prompt, received from the teacher, into their own file and begin their story.

Revise a file by first copying the latest version, via the File-Copy command, and giving it a different name and then editing the new file.

CalcuScribe-Uno has 4 lines x 40 characters whereas the Duo has 8 lines x 80 characters with a ZOOM feature - simply press the ZOOM (F9) key.

CalcuScribe auto-saves files and protects the data even when the batteries are removed. If a file is deleted, you may restore it with Undelete. Or, if data is accidentally removed from a file, simply press Ctrl+U to restore it.

Press the COUNT (F10) key to count the number of words and characters in the file - to measure your progress.

CalcuScribe can also spellcheck. The Alt + S keys, pressed together, check the spelling of the current word (where the cursor is) whereas the SPELL key spellchecks the entire file. If a misspelled word is found, a few suggestions are provided. Either replace the misspelled word by selecting a word from the list of suggestions or type another word, not in the list, by selecting the "EDIT" option.

CalcuScribe recognizes other instances of the misspelled word in your file. Select "Ignore" and all instances will be ignored or select "All" and all instances will be replaced with the correct word.

The yellow keypad allows for quick data-entry or it can be used for simple arithmetic and math.

CalcuScribe’s screen swivels to minimize glare so that you don’t have to lean to see the screen.
